Pedestrian Bridge For Wokingham Council
Wokingham council required a new 12m x 2.5m bridge to accommodate pedestrians and bridleway users crossing a shallow stream in California Public Park Wokingham. The bridge site was located in dense natural woodland with extremely soft ground conditions. The design live load was 5kn/m2 and the balustrade load was 0.74/m2.

Our design comprised of a galvanised steel frame with Ekki hardwood parapets, anti-slip deck and cladding to the side profiles of the beams. Our design offered a cost effective solution with no compromise to functionality or lifespan and allowed it to be built in kit form off site and assembled on site in a single day.
Due to the sites overhanging trees, soft ground conditions and narrow winding access route, installation by crane was not possible. Installation was completed using a large telehandler carrying the components to the site to be bolted together in situ. This was completed in a single day with no damage to the trees or existing pathways.
The project was completed safely, on time, in budget.
